Everything you need to know — before you ask.
212 Dials is rooted in New York City — the city that never settles, and neither do we. Our name is our area code. Our standard is the city itself.
Every piece — whether a wearable timepiece or a display art build — is assembled in-house by our own hands. No contract labor, no outsourced production. Each one is inspected against our tolerances before it leaves the bench.
Built in New York. Held to a New York standard.Every display piece is a three-dimensional composition built from precision-selected materials chosen for longevity, clarity, and visual weight. Nothing generic. Nothing fragile.
The layout mirrors the actual mechanical logic of a movement — front to back, layer by layer. You're looking at the architecture of watchmaking made visible and permanent.
Front layers — Dial, hands, and chapter ring. The face of timekeeping.
Middle layers — Gear train, escapement wheel, and pallet fork. The engine room.
Rear layers — Mainspring barrel, base plate, and bridges. The foundation that holds it all together.
The spacing between each panel creates shadow, depth, and dimension — so the piece reads differently at every viewing angle. It's not flat art. It's sculpture.
Custom display art pieces are built to order and go through a structured build process that cannot be rushed without compromising alignment. Production runs 1 to 2 weeks from order confirmation. All other pieces in our catalog are in stock and ship the same or next business day.
These pieces are built to last — but like any precision object, they respond to how they're treated. Follow these basics and it'll stay exhibition-quality for years.
Placement — Indoors only. Away from direct sunlight, extreme heat, cold, and high humidity. A stable, level surface or proper wall mount is ideal.
Cleaning — Dust with a soft, dry microfiber cloth. For the acrylic panels, use an acrylic-safe cleaner on the cloth — never sprayed directly on the piece. No ammonia, no abrasives, no paper towels.
Handling — Always lift from the base — never grip the acrylic panels. Clean, dry hands only. Keep the original packaging for storage or transport.
Treat it like the art it is.In-stock pieces ship the same or next business day. Watches requiring assembly run 3 to 7 days depending on component availability. If any part needs to be sourced, we give you the exact timeline before confirming — no vague estimates, no surprises mid-order.
Modified Watch — We start with an existing reference — a proven case and movement platform — and upgrade or alter specific components to your spec. Dial, hands, bezel, finishing, movement regulation. The result: a refined version of something that already works, made to work better for you.
Custom-Built Watch — Ground-up construction from your brief. Case, movement, dial, hands, strap — every element sourced and spec'd to your vision with no starting template. Full creative control, fully executed by us.
Not sure which route? Tell us what you want on the wrist — we'll tell you which path gets you there.Yes. Every wearable timepiece is wet-pressure tested in-house and rated to 5 ATM (50 meters). Rain, splashes, everyday wear — covered. Not rated for diving, sustained submersion, or high-pressure water exposure.
